Anticipated Launch of Microsoft’s Upcoming Surface Laptop 6 And Pro 10 Devices Might Introduce Them as AI Systems
Rumors circulating hint that Microsoft is preparing to reveal the next version of Windows, potentially named Windows 12, in 2024. Reports suggest that this updated version will showcase extensive integration of artificial intelligence.
While the need for specific AI processing units for the upcoming Windows variant remains unclear, it is expected that AI functions will benefit from their inclusion.
Insider sources from Windows Central suggest that Microsoft’s leading AI-driven PCs could emerge in the form of the upcoming Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10. These devices are said to be equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU) specially designed for AI tasks.
Rumors suggest that the Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 may be available in both Intel and Arm-based versions. It is speculated that the Arm editions will operate on a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series chip, internally referred to as CADMUS, tailored for the forthcoming Windows release.
There are high expectations for these ARM-powered Surface devices to present a challenge to Apple Silicon in areas such as battery life, performance, and data protection.
Recent updates indicate that the new Surface Laptop is currently undergoing a redesign, featuring slimmer borders, curved screen corners, and additional connection ports.
The Surface Pro 10 is rumored to come with a brighter display compatible with HDR. There are also whispers about a version with lower resolution, possibly targeting budget-conscious customers.
It is worth noting that Microsoft’s upcoming Surface releases may not be the only ones to feature dedicated NPU chips. Nonetheless, there is uncertainty surrounding whether Microsoft will require NPUs as a mandatory component for its Windows operating system.
Possibly, Windows 12 might just be an enhanced version of Windows 11 optimized for AI functionalities. More details are expected from Microsoft in the coming days.
Leaked information suggests that Microsoft has several other Surface laptops and devices in development, but their potential to enhance the performance of Microsoft’s Surface series remains to be seen.
As of now, this information has not been confirmed by Microsoft.
