Imminent Implementation of Windows 11 Version 23H2 Anticipated to Occur Automatically on Older Systems
Users employing outdated versions of Windows 11 may experience an automatic transition to Windows 11 version 23H2. Microsoft consistently pushes for these upgrades.
The reasoning behind Microsoft’s urgency for upgrading to newer Windows editions is evident: older versions will eventually lose update and support compatibility.
To ensure ongoing support and updates, Microsoft necessitates the automatic switch to newer versions, with security emerging as a principal motive for this approach.
Interestingly, these automated upgrades might occur several months prior to the completion of the operating system’s support period.
Microsoft’s official Windows 11 Release Information portal has verified the automatic updates to Windows 11 version 23H2, declaring, “Windows 11, version 23H2, commonly known as the Windows 11 2023 Update, is now commencing a new deployment phase. We are initiating the automatic update procedure for eligible Windows 11 devices to version 23H2.”
As per the announcement, the updates will be systematically rolled out, targeting Windows 11 devices either approaching or having reached the end of their support phase, leveraging machine learning-driven algorithms.
To recap, if your system is currently running on Windows 11 version 22H2 or an earlier variant, there is a possibility that Windows 11 version 23H2 will be automatically installed, even without explicit user consent.
While there is scant reason to evade the update for continuous system support, this method does diminish user independence.
Delaying the Update
If additional time is required, users have the option to postpone the compulsory update installation. Although manual selection is feasible, utilizing the InControl freeware may offer enhanced convenience for many users. This tool allows for effortless configuration of the preferred Windows version with just a few clicks.
Windows Update will honor this choice until the operating system version reaches its support end. Routine updates will still be implemented, but any feature update rollout will be postponed.
An exemption is that 60 days post the support lifecycle conclusion, Microsoft will initiate disregarding user preferences. This implies that you might persist with the Windows 11 version for its entire lifecycle followed by an extra 60 days.
Upon downloading the program, it promptly indicates if users possess authority over operating system updates. Users can designate their favored version and release, activate the “Take Control” feature, and ensure that Windows Update refrains from installing any new feature updates.
