Soon You’ll Be Able To Hide Your Twitter Blue Verification

Twitter is actively developing a feature that will enable users to conceal the blue badge that is granted upon signing up for its Blue service. A researcher named Alessandro Paluzzi discovered a screen revealing Twitter’s work on creating a verification settings control panel.

In addition to the option to hide their tweet likes and subscription list within the app, Twitter is also considering incorporating the feature to mask blue badges. These improvements appear to be a subtle self-critique of their own services but could be beneficial for Twitter users seeking to keep their preferences private.

The implementation of this feature to hide the verification mark has been in progress for some time now, and soon Twitter Blue subscribers will have the ability to switch off their blue badge.

The blue badge toggle on Twitter will also carry a warning that certain actions may still indicate that you are a paying user, such as drafting longer tweets or using text editing features. Moreover, it cautions that turning off the badge could result in losing access to other Blue benefits.

Given that the feature is still in the development stage, it’s clear that there is a demand for it and with the recent progress, Twitter appears ready to launch it soon. Additionally, Twitter is exploring options for users to determine whether their likes and subscriptions should be visible on the app.

In addition to hiding the verification badge, the new toggles will enable users to conceal their likes tab and prevent their data from appearing in Twitter’s API stream. Users will also have the option to safeguard the privacy of their subscriptions, enabling them to follow content anonymously without fear of judgment.

From the website’s context, the blue verified badge can help users to stand out, similar to owning an NFT profile picture. If a tweet from a Twitter Blue member garners significant attention, the responses may include humorous comments about how “this person paid for Twitter,” with tools even available to block all followers.
